Case Study #16
Barossa-Darwin LNG gas pipeline, Darwin, NT
Client:

Scope:
Land, marine and transitional zone geophysical investigation to assist in the characterisation of rock and weathering profile for pipe trenching and drilling.
Depth to rock, subsurface characterisation and seismic P and S-wave distribution and material type.
The investigation was carried out within the Santos Darwin LNG plant with strict adherence to the rules and regulations pertinent to such a facility.
The always challenging Seismic Transition Zone (STZ) environment was acerbated by the 8m tides that limited the working window and tested both equipment and people resolve. However, with good collaboration with all the parties involved (i.e., Scurbat, Fugro and Santos) the success of the investigation was ensured.
