Case Study #11
Project:

Multi-Level Development, Zetland, NSW

Client:
Scope:

Subsurface investigation to assist in piling and excavation and concrete stability/strength for a piling rig. Depth to rock, delineation of shale/sandstone interface and delineation of extent of old brick pit, and concrete thickness. Integration of geotechnical boreholes and geophysical results.

Most of the investigation was carried out at night to allow normal work operations on site by the developer and to eliminate the “seismic noise”, which are inherent in a construction site.
Extensive scoping/design of methodologies were carried out in consultation with client and piling contractor to develop the best approach for the delineation of the edge of the old brick pit to satisfy the technical, practical, and financial requirements. The very limited space available, and the depth of investigation requirements made it extremely challenging.
