Projects
Cressbrook Dam, Biarra, QLD

As part of the planned expansion and modernization works at Cressbrook Dam, a detailed geophysical investigation was undertaken to support the assessment of ground conditions and inform future design activities. The survey was performed using the Seismic Refraction Tomography (SRT) method across five profile lines strategically positioned within the project area.
The primary objective of the investigation was to characterise the geological structure of the slopes adjacent to the dam, with particular focus on identifying the depth to competent bedrock and delineating the boundary between overburden and underlying rock formations. These data provide valuable insights into the stability and engineering properties of the site, supporting design optimisation and risk management during planned construction works.
Field operations were conducted under challenging topographic conditions, with slope gradients reaching up to 50 degrees. To ensure safe and effective data acquisition in such terrain, rope access techniques were employed in selected areas, allowing the field team to access steep and otherwise difficult-to-reach locations. Despite the complexity of the site, high-quality seismic data were successfully collected to meet project objectives.
