Case Study #23
Melbourne Metro Tunnel, South Yarra, VIC
Client:

Scope:
Marine Geophysical investigation to characterise sub-seabed condition, sediment thicknesses, material type and delineation of the challenging geological sequence horizons, i.e. river sediments/basalt/sands/siltstone. All work was carried out at night to minimise the impact on the Yarra River traffic.
To maximise the investigation outcome, despite the limited space available, the boreholes used for BTBT were placed in water and land. To achieve optimum results, a specialised and innovating seismic source, not available in Australia, was procured from Europe. The seismic cable and seismic source for the SMSR were placed on the river bed by divers.
